Description:
SHARK DIVE OVERVIEW
OVERVIEW: SHARK CAGE DIVING
Shark Dive Overview; How your shark diving experience begins:
We will collect you from Cape Town, Hermanus or any other surrounding area. You can also drive to us yourself. We will meet you at our ‘White Shark Headquarters’ in Kleinbaai. You will enjoy a delicious continental breakfast and use our bathroom facilities to change into your swimwear if you choose to dive. We will discuss current sightings and sign an indemnity form, have a safety briefing, and put life jackets on before heading off to board our custom-built 36 ft, 4 tone white shark dive catamaran – ‘Shark Team’. We limit her to 20 passenger capacity plus 5 crew to ensure your comfort and viewing pleasure throughout your adventure experience.
You get to meet one of our intrepid skippers and our Dive Master. Our Marine biologist and experienced crew will guide you through your every move so you know exactly what we are doing and why. We explain how White Shark Projects works with the sharks in the area and how you will spend the next couple of hours diving and viewing these wondrous predators in their natural habitat.
As the day unfolds:
You are fully briefed on all procedures and the action begins as our crew ‘chums’ the cruise area and you wait with bated breath for your initial glimpse of the first shark fin.
Sharks are usually wary at first and we wait a while for them to settle and then lower the diving cage. Our first guests enter the cage (takes 4 – 6 people) and spend about 20-30 minutes face-to-face with the sharks! You will also have the opportunity to dive twice with sharks.
Great Whites are also known for their ‘spy hopping’ – breaching right out of the water in pursuit of prey! Topside viewing can yield a lot of those action photos.
Our Bronze Whaler sharks swim in groups (shivers) and glide over each other like 3-metre snakes.
